Soul Shards: The Old Ways is a simple mod that allows you to store the souls of creatures within gems for use in the soul cage to summon more creatures later. In the current versions, you receive a shard by building a small structure and clicking the center with a diamond. The first kill you make with the shard in your inventory binds it to the slain creature. It will only receive souls from that creature. To speed up the process, you can right-click on a mob spawner containing the bound creature to increase its stock by 200 (configurable). In version 1.8+, the mod was re-licensed as MIT. Do what you want with it. If you’re asking if you can include the mod in a pack, you will be denied an answer. Soul Shards: The Old Ways has returned to its roots with the introduction of the Soul Forge and Twisted Essence. Unlike the original concept, this mod allows you to customize almost everything you can imagine within the mod. Don’t like how long Sulium or Soul Shard smelts? You can change that in the configuration file. Don't want to use the new (old) mechanics? Turn on Easy Mode, and it will revert to the old (new) mechanics of right-clicking on glowstone (not recommended, and we will gradually phase it out).
