Open Loader is a mod utility that allows you to apply data packs and resource packs globally for all saved files in the game. This can be used by mod packs and servers to define custom recipes and other features for a wide range of mods. It can also be used to change textures, override tooltips, and modify other aspects of the game.
Data packs are used by Minecraft to load recipes, loot tables, functions, and other game mechanics. Many mods also use data packs to handle custom recipe systems and other new mechanics. OpenLoader will load any data packs that are placed in the ~/config/openloader/data folder. Prior to version 1.17, they were loaded from the ~/openloader/data folder. OpenLoader can load both compressed and uncompressed packs.
Resource packs are used to define textures, translations, sounds, and other client data. You can use them to override existing resources or add completely new ones. These packs are loaded from the ~/config/openloader/resources folder. Prior to version 1.17, they were loaded from the ~/openloader/resources folder. OpenLoader can load both compressed and uncompressed packs.
If your pack is not loading, it is because you did not follow the instructions correctly or created an invalid pack. Make sure the file is in the correct folder and that your pack contains a valid pack.mcmeta file. Unfortunately, I do not have the time or resources to help you debug your packs, but there are many resources and communities ready to assist you in creating these things.
How does the loading order of packs work? Any resource packs loaded by OpenLoader should be loaded after the standard and modified resource packs. The loading order of data packs is managed on a per world basis and can be very frustrating. Initially, all data packs loaded by this mod will be loaded after standard and modified packs. Any mods added to the game after loading this world will be loaded after all previously loaded packs, but only for that world. This can be addressed by using the data pack command from the standard toolkit to fix the world order based on each world. If you need more consistent control over the loading order, I recommend using a scripting tool like CraftTweaker, which is more reliable and stable than the data pack system.
Open Loader is a great mod that supports data packs and resource packs, allowing you to customize the game to your liking. Be creative and enjoy a unique gaming experience!
