- 4 levels of backpacks, each subsequent one provides more storage space and more slots for improvements (more on this later).
- Backpacks can be dyed any color just like leather armor.
- Backpacks can be worn on the back by pressing a specific key (default Shift+B). This back slot is separate from your chest slot.
- Worn backpacks are displayed as a sample for public viewing.
- The unique upgrade system allows new features to be added to backpacks that go beyond simple mobile storage.
The upgrade system is largely the "selling point" of this mod, so let me give you a brief overview of how it works and what you can do with it:
- Each backpack has several upgrade slots. One upgrade can be inserted into one slot.
- Each upgrade adds unique features to the backpack.
- The order of placing upgrades determines the order in which they will perform their functions. For example, inserting grinding, smelting, and sorting upgrades in that order will result in items being ground first, then smelted, and finally sorted.
- If a backpack is nested, upgrades retain their functionality and operate at the site of the nested upgrade.
- Some upgrades work every tick, others work in pulses. A pulse is half a second.
- Improvements are typically optimized in such a way that they cannot request the entire backpack at once.
- Normally you cannot insert the same upgrade twice, with some exceptions.
- If an upgrade states "can filter," it means that a filter can be inserted into the upgrade, but it will work even without a filter (accepts everything). If it says "must be filtered," the upgrade will not work without a filter (does not accept it).
- Filters have a bunch of options. They can filter not only by items but also by ore dictionary, metadata, and NBT data. They can also be nested within each other for advanced filtering.
So what can upgrades do then? Well, to name a few examples they can
- Collect items into the backpack instead of the inventory.
- Refill the hotbar with items from the backpack.
- Empty items. (either completely or leaving 1 stack)
- Smelted items.
- Grind items into dust (doubles ore output)
- Sort items.
- Feed you.
- Repair items with XP.
- Place items into a chest.
- Connect to your Ender Storage network.
- Fill buckets with water.
- Generate RF.
- Compress (create 3x3 or 2x2) items inside it.
